365 Days Photo challenge | Day 9

Hey Photographers! Today is the day 9/365 Days Photo Challenge!

Photo Tip #9

The best time for Photography!

Of course, this is very subjective, someone likes to take pictures in the rain, someone prefers sunrises or sunsets, but still there is a time when the light is most favorable for photography, and as far as we know, light is very important! We all know what happy hours mean, right? Happy hour is a marketing term for a time when venue (such as a restaurant, bar, bowling alley, stadium, state fair, or county fair) offers discounts on alcoholic drinks. Free appetizers and discounted menu items are often served during happy hour. - copied from Wikipidea ) So, photography has it's own happy hours too and it's called Golden Hour! The golden hour is the period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset, during which daylight is redder and softer than when the Sun is higher in the sky, thanks to Wikipidea for definition again ). Just like happy hours, golden hour doesn't last long, of course it depends on the season during the summer you have much more time than during the winter. All photographers usually plan the photo shooting around this time to get that piece of soft, pleasant light! Let's see some photos I have done during golden hour in Milano city.

Photo Examples After/Before Editing:

Since you don't have much time you better choose the place where you're gonna take pictures in advance and do all the preparations too. That's why I recommend to arrive at chosen place at least 30 mins before golden hour starts.

Here are some apps that will help you figure out when the golden hour is in your area:

1.  PhotoTime: Golden Hour Calculator - for Android

2. Magic Hour  - for IOS

Another great thing about golden hour: the most beautiful skies I have observed exactly at this time!
